DUBAI // A 25-year-old driver has been found guilty of molesting an air hostess after moving furniture into her apartment.
Dubai Criminal Court sentenced Pakistani M D to three months in jail on Thursday.
“I am innocent,” he told judges as he denied a sexual assault charge earlier this month.
Prosecutors said the incident happened on January 18 at the Chinese victim’s apartment in Al Qusais.
“I bought some furniture from Home Centre, after which I was provided with the contact number of a driver who can carry the items to my place,” said J W, whose age was not in records.
She added that after M D delivered her furniture at about 8pm, she thanked him by shaking his hand. “But to my surprise, he hugged me tightly and then touched my breast. I stopped him and asked him to leave, at which point he apologised and left,” said J W.
The air hostess immediately told her building’s security guard to stop the driver from leaving until she contacted police.
The driver will be deported after completing his sentence.
