DUBAI// Dubai abattoirs handled a record 15,584 slaughters of sacrificial animals this Eid, including three camels, 376 cows and 15,205 sheep and goats.
The animals were culled at municipal abattoirs in Al Qusais, Deira, Bur Dubai, Hatta and Lisaily.
Ahmed Hassan Al Shammary, head of Dubai Municipality's Abattoirs Section, said: "The staff of the entire section has literally worked round the clock, putting in extra hours to serve the sacrifiers."
Once doors had closed to paying customers, the abattoirs stayed on to slaughter animals donated to charity organisations in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
