A drunk man who attacked two police officers after stumbling into a stranger’s home has been sentenced to three months in prison.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the defendant, an unemployed man from the Comoros Islands, was too drunk to realise he was at the wrong address.
When officers called to the scene by the shocked homeowner tried to reason with the man he attacked them both.
He tried to choke one before picking up a metal candle holder and threatening to hit the other.
“He picked up a metal candle holder and tried to hit us with it if we came near him,” a policeman told the hearing.
Appearing in court, the man denied assaulting and threatening the officers in Al Rafaa on June 17 last year.
But he admitted he had been too drunk to remember exactly what had happened. He was found guilty and ordered to be deported after completing his sentence.
