DUBAI // A passenger who threatened to kill and chop up a flight attendant after she refused to give him more alcohol was sentenced to six months in jail on Wednesday.
Briton A M, 42, assaulted the stewardess, and called her “trash”, a “sex slave” and used other abusive words on June 2 last year, Dubai Criminal Court heard in September.
The attack took place on an Emirates flight from London to Dubai.
The defendant ordered alcohol before take-off and again 20 minutes into the journey.
“He was eating and throwing food on the floor, then eating off the floor,” said Indian flight attendant B S, 30.
“I went to him and asked him to return to his seat and have his meal there.
“I then brought a rubbish bag and started picking up the food he threw away.
“He threw food on passengers around him and jumped from his seat to the aisle and started making a mess. Some passengers asked to change seats.”
As she cleaned up after him he pulled her shirt hard. When she asked him to stop touching her, he got up from his seat and started insulting her.
“He stood up and told me I was trash, a sex slave,” she said, adding that he also insulted some of her colleagues.
He threatened to slap her, kill her and chop her up if she did not give him more alcohol.
Egyptian flight attendant E M, 26, said: “I was ordered to attend to the problem and I saw him jumping on his seat and pulling B S from her shirt, then insulting her with very bad words.”
After crew members tried and failed to calm him down, he went to the toilet and lit a cigarette, setting off the fire alarm and scaring fellow passengers.
He fell asleep just before the plane landed in Dubai. On the ground, he also insulted waiting police.
The Briton denied all charges against him, including one of illegally drinking alcohol.
He was also fined Dh1,000 and will be deported after serving his sentence.
