DUBAI // A man accused of selling drugs to a police source denied it, saying that the source was his friend.
Bangladeshi S P, 35, is charged at Dubai Criminal Court with possessing 10 capsules of methamphetamine to sell.
“The man I met is my friend from whom I had borrowed some money. The day I was arrested, I saw him and paid him what I owed him. I have no idea where these drug capsules came from and I had no capsules on me at the time of arrest,” S P told the judges.
Prosecutors said Dubai Police had been tipped off about the Bangladeshi and had been watching his movements.
“We learnt that he was offering the drugs for Dh700 so we arranged for a source to meet with the defendant, posing as a buyer,” said policeman R A.
The two then met in a car park in Oud Al Mutainah, he said, on April 20 and the defendant was arrested after handing over money to the police source at 11.30pm.
The next hearing will be on November 19.
