DUBAI // A driver charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy was found guilty on Thursday and sentenced to three months in jail, followed by deportation.

Dubai Criminal Court records show that the driver, Pakistani E A, 51, befriended the teenager when they met while attending Fajr, or dawn, prayers at a mosque in Al Rashidiya.

The victim said in his statement: “I met E A eight days before my father saw me getting out of E A’s car.

“He kept offering to drive me home after Fajr prayers but I used to decline his offer, respectfully, telling him my house was not far away from the mosque.

“On the fifth day, I accepted his offer, because the defendant insisted. I was also embarrassed from rejecting him all the time, so I went inside his car.”

The boy went on to tell the court that the driver started kissing and touching him.

Over the next days, the attacker continued to drive the boy to his house, molesting him on the way, until the boy’s father noticed his son arriving in a strange car.

The father said: “I asked my son what he was doing in the man’s car, so he told me what had been happening and I told him it’s wrong.”

The father reported the incident to police, who apprehended the Pakistani.
