A driver changing a tyre at the side of the road was killed when he was hit by a car.
The accident happened on Sheikh Zayed Road on Sunday, said Colonel Juma bin Suwaidan, director general of the traffic department.
“The victim parked his car on the hard shoulder at 7.30pm when the other car hit him,” he said.
“The man died after he sustained severe injuries.”
He said parking on the hard shoulder should only be done in an emergency, which he said changing a tyre was not.
“Many drivers misuse the hard shoulder,” said Col Bin Suwaidan, reminding drivers to follow traffic rules.
