Dr Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba, the UAE’s non-resident Ambassador to the Vatican City attended an annual ceremony to exchange greetings for the new year. According to state news agency Wam, she was accompanied by the other members of the diplomatic corps.

The event was called by Pope Francis in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace and was attended by Archbishop Pietro Parolin, the See’s equivalent of a prime minister, and other cardinals.

The UAE ambassador conveyed the greetings of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Supreme Council members and Rulers of the emirates.

Pope Francis extended his wishes to the country’s leadership and its people.
