More than half a million dirhams in cash will be handed out to Syrian refugee families living in Egypt.

The 12-month unconditional cash assistance programme, run by Sharjah’s Big Heart Foundation, will target 100 households accounting for 400 refugees.

The foundation will provide grants worth Dh550,000 to vulnerable women and children forced to live in difficult circumstances.

The programme will restore dignity and improve the recipients’ well being, said Mariam Al Hammadi, director of the foundations’ Salam Ya Seghar initiative.
