DUBAI // A 23-year-old Emirati told Dubai Criminal Court he did not use tear gas to temporarily blind a Saudi Arabian man and steal his iPhone.
The 35-year-old Saudi said a friend on Facebook told him he could help him get a job in Dubai so he came to the emirate in May to meet the defendant. “We agreed to meet on May 29 in Al Qusais,” said the Saudi. “I waited for him behind a petrol station, he arrived, shook my hand, then sprayed something on my eyes, blinding me before he and another person hit me and snatched my iPhone.”
The defendant and a 17-year-old Iranian were arrested.
The Iranian was referred to juveniles court.
