Dar Al Ber Society helps 1,500 become Muslims

DUBAI // More than 1,500 people became Muslims with the help of Dar Al Ber Society so far this year.

The charity organisation said it helped 1,511 residents of various nationalities convert to Islam during the first seven months of the year, according to the state news agency, Wam.

Staff members gave more than 1,800 lectures and classes on religious, social and national issues during the same period, said Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, the society’s executive director.

The society’s Islamic Information Centre provides an SMS service to introduce the tolerant teachings of Islam to non-Muslims, said Rashid Al Junaibi, the centre’s manager.

The centre also distributed more than 477,000 publications including books, pamphlets, brochures and CDs. It collected more than Dh462,000 in contributions to support its programmes.
