Culture is strengthened through dance

A troupe of Emirati dancers, as well as others from the region, are in China to showcase Arabic culture.

BEIJING // A team of traditional dancers from the UAE has been impressing the Chinese public this week as part of the second Arabic Arts Festival. The group of male performers, flown to China by the UAE's Ministry of Culture, are showcasing their skills in Beijing and Shanghai, where the festival ends on Friday. As part of the festival, a two-day Sino-Arab Cultural Forum has been held in Beijing, attracting ministers and other senior officials from the Arab world and China. The festival also features performers from Oman, Tunisia, Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Algeria.

Omar al Bitar, the UAE ambassador to China, said: "Culture is a main theme of any relations. Without culture, you cannot get closer. You cannot strengthen ties without understanding each other." @Email:[e-mail]
