Pakistani fails in appeal against trafficking charges

A woman jailed for forcing a 16-year-old girl into the sex industry has failed in a bid to appeal her conviction.

The Pakistani, 35, was found guilty of bringing the teenager to the UAE on a fake passport.

She made the girl work in the sex trade in an apartment that was used as a brothel, alongside other women, for about 18 months.

The convicted woman pretended the teenager was her daughter, even taking her back to Pakistan then returning to the UAE. Even before her ordeal began, the woman was raped and forced to work for a trafficking gang in Pakistan.

“I entered and exited the country three times, purportedly as the woman’s daughter,” the victim testified.

In Pakistan, before the final visit to the UAE, she met other captives who urged her to contact police in the UAE.

“One of them told me that I had to find away to reach police and tell them my story and that they would help me, because they have strict laws against human trafficking here," the girl testified.

She eventually managed to contact Sharjah Police.

The Pakistani defendant was arrested and charged with human trafficking, running a brothel and facilitating prostitution.

The court denied her appeal and ruled she would be deported after finishing her three year jail term.
