Two women were arrested in Dubai for filming a police officer on duty and posting the video on social media. Brig Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, director of Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, said the women recorded the officer during the arrest of a man suspected of assault. The officer was unaware he had been recorded. “The women breached his privacy by making a recording of him while he was on duty and by posting it on social media platforms,” said Brig Al Jallaf. “Article number 21 in the country’s cybercrime law says anyone who breaches someone’s privacy by eavesdropping, copying, saving or publishing their photo or personal data using an electronic device, even if what is published is authentic, can be sentenced to a minimum of six months in prison. “They can also be fined between Dh150,000 and Dh500,000.” He said the women face charges of breaching privacy. “Avoid the offence of sharing pictures or videos online, especially those of police at work,” he said.
