DUBAI // Three men have confessed to charges of possession and the use of drugs after police caught them rolling marijuana-laced cigarettes.
The drugs squad was tipped off on June 1 that the painters MN, 36, and MO, 28, and the labourer MA, 27, all Bangladeshis, were in possession of drugs, a court heard yesterday.
After securing the necessary approval, officers went to the Bur Dubai area where MA and MO live.
A drugs squad officer said he saw MN and MA in a room rolling cigarettes with a substance that appeared to be marijuana as MO sat nearby.
The officers then made their presence known, telling the men they worked for the anti-drugs squad. The trio confessed to taking drugs in the emirate. The police found 9.5 grams of cannabis in a plastic roller.
In addition, a box with six cigarettes that contained almost 4.5 grams of tobacco mixed with marijuana was found. MN said that he got the drugs from a visitor three months ago and that he did not have any further information about the visitor.
The case was adjourned until October 14.
