DUBAI // Three men assaulted and robbed a passerby after he refused to have sex with one of their prostitutes, a court heard today.
The trio accosted the man on November 6 last year while he was walking down a side road in Al Baraha and tried to lure him into a nearby flat where they said he could have sex with a prostitute.
"When I refused one of them pushed me to the ground and then they all assaulted me before going through my pockets and taking my wallet and mobile phone," recalled the man MN, 24, from Pakistan. He said his wallet contained Dh1,700 and that he also lost his ID card in the attack.
He screamed for help and his attackers fled.
A passing police patrol found him lying on the ground bleeding from a head injury. The officers ordered him an ambulance.
Police lieutenant SA, 23, said that three men - Bangladeshis MM, 23, MA, 28 and SA, 23, - were arrested on February 21 this year.
In court they denied charges of theft and promoting sin.
A verdict was scheduled for May 29.
