A woman was injured in a pile-up involving 28 vehicles on Emirates Road in Dubai on Wednesday. Dubai Police said she suffered moderate injuries as a result of the crash, which brought traffic to a halt. “The accident happened during the early morning hours as fog blanketed the emirate’s highways,” said Brig Saif Al Mazroui, head of traffic police. “According to the report we received, the collision involved 28 vehicles on Emirates Road, Abu Dubai bound, after Al Rowaiyah exit.” Many drivers crashed as they were too close to the vehicle in front, despite the poor weather conditions. “Two cars crashed, then 26 others, whose drivers didn’t keep a safe distance, rammed into one another,” he said. Brig Al Mazroui urged road users to pay attention to the road and reduce speeds in fog and bad weather. “Accidents that happen during bad weather conditions tend to be more severe," he said. He urged motorists to use low-beam lights – not high beam, which can dazzle other road users – and indicate clearly when changing lanes. “Allow extra time for your journey and check your planned route," he said. "It’s also advisable to wait for the fog to clear until visibility improves."
