DUBAI // Three men tried to sell 70,000 Tramadol tablets to undercover police officers, the Dubai Criminal Court heard today.
Prosecutors said the police launched a sting operation on January 9 after receiving a tip off about three drug dealers.
The officers arranged to meet the dealers at a car park in Al Barsha and were handed a paint barrel filled with Tramadol tablets. They then arrested the men and found a further two plastic bags containing the drug in their car.
According to police, SE, 31, HA, 38, both technicians, and EA, 32, a sales agent, all confessed to possessing a large number of the tablets at their home in Sharjah and admitted planning to sell these. Police said that the role of HA and EA was to provide SE with the drugs and that he would sell them on.
However, all three men, who are Egyptian, denied the charges of drug possession yesterday. HA denied a further charge of drug consumption.
The case was adjourned to July 18.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless.
