Manager denies using internet for threats

DUBAI // A 42-year-old manager denied using the internet to send threats to a man and his family, a court heard today.

The Dubai Criminal Court was told that MQ, from Iran, sent an email to HM, nationality unknown. MQ allegedly wrote that if HM did not pay him the money he was owed, he would kill him and his family.

Prosecutors said the threats were made on December 4.

"I did not threaten anybody and the email address in the prosecution documents from which they claim I sent the threats is not even mine," MQ told Maher Salameh, the presiding judge.

AA, a 35-year-old Iranian, said that she received an email which contained insults and threats to her husband, HM.

"The email said that he would do something to HM and that he would start harming the family and HM wont even know where their bodies are," she said.

She noted that in another email, the defendant sent pictures of her and her husband and a map of their daughter's school.

FM, an Emirati man who knows the defendant, testified that MQ often sent him emails from the address prosecutors allege is his.

The next hearing will be on August 1.
