A Chinese marketing manager denied sexually assaulting a woman from his own country during a meeting at his office.
The woman, 28, told prosecutors that at 1pm on June 22 she went to the defendant’s office in the Chinese cluster of Dubai International City for a work-related meeting.
“I’ve known him for about three months and that day met with him for some translation work,” she said, adding that there was no one else at the office at the time.
As she began work, she said he sat next to her.
“He started flirting then hugged me,” said the woman, adding that he dragged her into his office while she was crying and he touched her all over the body.
The woman said she tried to escape his grip but he pulled her back towards him and resumed touching her.
“I kept on resisting him then managed to escape and call police,” she said.
Police called the defendant and asked him to come in, which he did the next morning, when he denied the accusations.
“She was leaving the office before finishing the work we agreed on and when I asked her, we argued and she left, but I didn't touch her or do anything to her,” the defendant said.
On Thursday morning at Dubai Criminal Court he denied a charge of sexual assault.
The next hearing is on September 11.
