DUBAI // A shepherd confessed to organising and participating in a gambling game in a pedestrian tunnel, a court heard this morning.
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance was told that BH, 25, from Bangladesh, who lives in Sharjah but works in Dubai, had been organising games in which the losers would pay him Dh50 a game.
Prosecutors said that he set a table in the middle of a tunnel leading to Bani Yas Road. On the table, he laid a belt in a circle.
Participants tried to throw a screwdriver into the circle. If it landed inside, BH paid them Dh50. If it landed outside, he collected the same amount, prosecutors say.
Police busted the game on August 10, records show. BH confessed during police and prosecution investigations.
A verdict is expected on November 30.
