DUBAI // A dinner party ended in a fight with a housewife from next door because cars were parked in her driveway, a court has heard.
The hosts say S?S, a Palestinian housewife, spat, swore and hit a woman who tried to calm her down.
Prosecutors told the Misdemeanours Court that on March 24 this year a British woman, D?D, 26, and her Saudi husband, 29, had a party at their Emirates Hills villa.
Police called one of the guests and asked him to move the cars after the housewife, 40, lodged a complaint.
The host said his two friends were about to move the cars when his neighbour ran out swearing at them. He said S?D, 50, his mother-in-law, tried to calm the situation but the neighbour spat at her, punched her in the face and swore at her.
It was not their first over-the-fence disagreement, the court heard.
The husband said that a month earlier his maid had put rubbish in the neighbour’s bin by mistake. She called police, who made him sign an undertaking not to do it again.
The neighbour said the mother-in-law insulted her for wearing shorts, then attacked her with her daughter. She said eight guests joined in.
A medical report found she had bruises on her arms, knees and face.
She denied assaulting and insulting the couple, who are facing charges of assaulting and insulting her. They did not enter pleas.
The case was adjourned to October 16.
