Four arrested in connection with theft of Dh1.2m Ferrari on Palm Jumeirah

Three men who allegedly stole a Ferrari valued at Dh1.2 million from a hotel on the Palm Jumeirah have been arrested along with a man who knowingly bought the stolen car, police said.

The owner of the vehicle reported that his car was stolen on October 13 and Dubai Police launched an investigation and recovered it within 24 hours.

Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, assistant chief of criminal investigation, said: “The owner of the vehicle, from Europe, reported that his vehicle was stolen. Police launched an investigation and found that the previous owner of the vehicle and another three men were involved in the theft.”

The previous owner of the Ferrari 458, who is also European, kept a car key and arranged for two other Europeans to steal it. The three tourists then sold it on to an African resident of the UAE, who was going to sell the car's parts.

“The four men were arrested in a garage in a neighbouring emirate. The African suspect bought the car for $55,000 and was planning to sell the parts of the vehicle,” said Maj Gen Al Mansouri.

Police recovered the car and returned it to the owner.
