Five arrested over theft of Dh20,000 from car in Ajman

Asian victim had withdrawn the amount from his bank and left it in his car as he went to work but African men smashed the window and made off with the money, police say.

AJMAN // Five men have been arrested for stealing Dh20,000 from a man’s car in Ajman.

Police said the African men saw their Asian victim withdraw the money from a bank and leave it in his car as he went to work, so they smashed the window and made off with the cash.

Col Abdullah Al Matrooshi, deputy director of operations at Ajman Police, said the five men were arrested in possession of Dh15,000 and equipment used to break into the car.

Col Al Matrooshi said a report had been sent to prosecutors to charges the men.
