A computer teacher, 46, will be charged with allegedly sending sexual messages and images to an 11-year-old girl.
Dubai prosecutors said that in May, the girl’s mother was contacted by her school in Dubai and was told that the Grade 6 pupil had made suicidal comments to other teachers and classmates.
“They told me that her behaviour has changed and she was not well psychologically and physically, so I started observing and noticed these changes,” said the Syrian mother, 43.
She claimed she found messages containing sexual content and images on her daughter’s WhatsApp account. On July 10, the mother and her sister-in-law reported the teacher to police.
The girl was questioned by a policewoman in a child-friendly room, where drawings and colouring were used to help her tell what had happened.
Through this and a medical check-up, investigators concluded that she had not been physically abused.
The teacher will face a charge of inciting sin.
