DUBAI // Five men who carried out their plot to rob a spa were this morning sentenced to a year in prison to be followed by deportation.
One of the men pretended to be a customer in need of a leg massage while his accomplices prepared for the robbery.
In the middle of his massage, four men - all Bangladeshis aged between 22 and 27 - barged in tied everyone up with plastic cables.
The defendants then took money and mobile phones.
After the four defendants left the spa, one of the victims managed to untie herself and call police.
Police tracked the defendants down to Hor Al Anz area and arrested them. They found 11 stolen mobile phones in their possession.
During investigations, the four men said they planned the robbery with MA, whose role was to go to the spa as a customer.
When interrogated, MA confessed to his role, said prosecutors.

The flights
Etihad and Emirates fly direct to Kolkata from Dh1,504 and Dh1,450 return including taxes, respectively. The flight takes four hours 30 minutes outbound and 5 hours 30 minute returning.
The trains
Numerous trains link Kolkata and Murshidabad but the daily early morning Hazarduari Express (3’ 52”) is the fastest and most convenient; this service also stops in Plassey. The return train departs Murshidabad late afternoon. Though just about feasible as a day trip, staying overnight is recommended.

How Islam's view of posthumous transplant surgery changed
Transplants from the deceased have been carried out in hospitals across the globe for decades, but in some countries in the Middle East, including the UAE, the practise was banned until relatively recently.
Opinion has been divided as to whether organ donations from a deceased person is permissible in Islam.
The body is viewed as sacred, during and after death, thus prohibiting cremation and tattoos.
One school of thought viewed the removal of organs after death as equally impermissible.
That view has largely changed, and among scholars and indeed many in society, to be seen as permissible to save another life.

Mia Man’s tips for fermentation
- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut
- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.
- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.
