Dubai Police released a picture of a man arrested for insulting officers in an online video. The force said the man, whose name, age and nationality were not disclosed, recorded himself "insulting, threatening and using foul language" towards police and posted the video on the internet. Dubai Police said anyone found to have insulted others in such a manner faces a possible prison sentence and a fine of between Dh250,000 and Dh500,000 under the country's cybercrime laws. Insulting a public employee would be considered an "aggravating feature" of the offence. Police typically blur the faces of those accused of crimes. But in April, a cybercrime police chief gave a warning that photos of those caught flouting Covid-19 restrictions would be circulated to the media. Only days later, police published images of three men arrested for uploading inflammatory videos to the internet. The police did not state whether the videos were linked to authorities' efforts to tackle the pandemic.
