A man was sentenced to six months in jail for adding gunshot sound effects to a video and posting it on TikTok to scare people, Dubai Criminal Court said. The Bangladeshi waiter, 24, will also have to pay a fine of Dh5,000 and will be deported after completing his prison term. Judges heard how the man shot the video in an empty car park in Bur Dubai on January 13 and added sound effects to it to make it look like a crime scene. Nobody was seen in the video but he added the sound effects of four gunshots and people running and screaming in panic. He posted the video on his TikTok account, which has 11,400 followers. More than 2,000 of his followers watched the video. He was arrested and the police confiscated his two mobile phones. The clip was found on both devices. He admitted to posting the fake video and told the judges that he used built-in filters to make the modifications to the video. The man can appeal against the verdict within two weeks.
