ABU DHABI // CCTV footage from two hotels shows a woman being forced into prostitution, a public prosecutor claimed yesterday.
The footage, played to the Criminal Court during the trial of two people accused of human trafficking, was said by Counsellor Hassan Al Hammadi to show the woman being escorted to two hotel rooms where she was forced to have sex with clients.
The footage showed the alleged victim walking alone into the Grand Millennium Hotel at 4.40am on April 2. She entered a lift and fixed her hair, clothes and make-up in the mirror before leaving the lift and being greeted by two women - RR, who is one of the accused, and another woman. The two women then escorted her into a hotel room. Two hours later the three women left.
Two days later the woman was seen again accompanied by RR, this time at the Cristal Hotel where she was taken to a third floor room.
The Syrian woman claimed she was tricked into coming to the UAE after being offered a job.
She said that when she landed, RR, 20, and her husband AA, 49, also both from Syria, took her passport and forced her to prostitute herself.
She reported them to police seven days later, saying she delayed it because she feared being charged with prostitution.
Police arrested AA and charged him with human trafficking. His wife fled the country.
A verdict is expected on July 8.
