An Emirati student was left blind in one eye after a fight over a Playstation game. 

An Emirati student was left blind in one eye after two others hit him with a sharp object in a brawl over a popular Playstation game.

Dubai Criminal Court heard of the assault on June 20 after the victim won the Call of Duty online game against another Emirati student.

“I was at my home playing Call of Duty against the offender's brother,” said the Emirati student, 20.

“I won, after which he started harassing me.

“The next day, he called and insulted me but I didn’t respond so they kept calling me repeatedly.”

The brothers, 20 and 24, allegedly asked the victim to meet them at a school car park in Al Mizhar area.

He was beaten up by the two siblings and a third person he did not know, the victim said.

They hit him in the eye with a sharp object and fled the scene.

The victim’s friends called the police and took him to a hospital.

The brothers were arrested but the third attacker escaped.

Medical reports confirmed a 35 per cent permanent disability and complete loss of vision in the right eye.

The brothers were charged with physical assault causing disability.

The next hearing is on January 7.
