ABU DHABI // A man posed as a police officer so that he could grope women while carrying out body searches, the Criminal Court heard today.
Prosecutors said FM based himself near a roundabout behind a hotel in the capital and would stop passing women in the early hours of the morning demanding to search them.
During these searches he would grope the women, steal their money and often threaten them, the court heard.
One of the women said he groped her and stole her money after confiscating her ID card. She said he threatened to run her over and use an electric shock device on her.
The man, an Emirati, faces similar accusations in five other cases. He asked if all the cases could be heard as one and asked for a copy of his file. The court agreed.
A verdict was scheduled for August 12.
