DUBAI // An Afghan man hired to assemble furniture has been accused of sexually molesting a mentally challenged boy at his home in January. The carpenter GR, 25, was charged yesterday with sexual assault in the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance. He denied the charges. DNA samples collected from the assault scene matched the defendant. The victim was in a room where GR was working, according to a police report. A woman identified as MH walked into the room and saw the defendant exposing himself while standing in front of the victim.
A police officer told prosecutors that MH kept the defendant in the house until authorities arrived. He also said that GR confessed at the time of his arrest. The court will issue its verdict on July 14. amustafa@thenational.ae
