Police seized 400,000 pills and 380kg of hashish after smashing a drug trafficking ring in Abu Dhabi. The force set up operation 'Crossing Borders' after receiving a tip-off about a crime gang planning to flood the capital with drugs. Three men - all from unspecified Asian countries - were arrested during the swoop. The type of pills confiscated was not disclosed. A senior police officer said the illicit trade was being orchestrated from outside the UAE. Details of when and where the arrests took place were not revealed. Col Taher Al Dhaheri, head of Abu Dhabi Police's anti-narcotics unit, said the drug dealers aimed to “to target youth and drown them in addiction”. The gang members confessed to their role in the plot during interview, said Col Al Dhaheri. The case has been referred to court.
