Dog walkers, runners and cyclists returned to Abu Dhabi’s Corniche on Sunday, as the emirate continued to ease its coronavirus restrictions. The Corniche had been off-limits since late-March in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid-19. However, there were signs of normality returning on Sunday morning with joggers, cyclists and dog walkers spotted at the popular location in the capital. While the bicycle lane and walking path were open, the beach and children's play areas remain cordoned off. The return of people exercising on the corniche was in line with an easing of instructions across the country that have seen pools, gyms and hotels welcoming people back in recent weeks. Restrictions on travel in and out of Abu Dhabi were extended last Tuesday for a further seven days as the government carries out a major testing drive in densely populated areas of the capital. As of Saturday, there have been 41,990 reported cases of Covid-19 in the UAE, with 288 deaths and 26,761 people making recoveries.
