The National has created an online condolences page for Ibolya Ryan.
The page – available at www.thenational.ae/ibolya – will allow people to write messages following the murder of Ms Ryan, 47, who had been a kindergarten teacher at Al Oula School in Al Shawamekh area in Baniyas since last year.
Vigils have been held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the American from Denver, Colorado.
Born a Hungarian and raised in a village in Romania, Ms Ryan had earned a master’s degree in special education. She is survived by three children, twins Aidan and Adam, 11, and Timea, 13.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, decried the murder and voiced her sympathy and condolences to Ms Ryan’s family. Sheikha Fatima said she would do her utmost to help Ms Ryan’s children and to ease their shock over “the horrific crime that deprived them of their mother’s love at a very young age”.
Dr Mona Al Bahar, an FNC member from Dubai, expressed her “deepest condolences to the Ryan family, particularly her children”.
Ms Ryan's former husband, Paul Ryan, has set up a memorial Facebook page at facebook.com/IbolyaAndHerLegacy.
