ABU DHABI // A law firm has won three cases against a Dubai-based company over a Reem Island construction project that stalled almost three years ago.

House of Justice had previously announced it won its first case against Tameer Holding, the developer, last month.

“This is evidencing the positive position of Tameer project investors and their cases against Tameer,” Khalfan Al Kaabi, managing partner at House of Justice, said on Tuesday.

“The arbitrators again granted all our requested claims and allowed proper and fair compensation, including the loss of rents for the unit from the completion date up to the date of the award,” he said.

The firm is handling about 40 cases against Tameer and Mr Al Kaabi said other cases are progressing similarly.

The Dh7 billion Tameer Towers project had been slated for completion in 2011, but construction stopped in July that year. Investors have said they have paid thousands or millions of dirhams towards residential flats and mortgages fees in the unfinished project.

The project had been planned as four residential blocks. The company’s website now lists as part of the project two towers consisting of 1,050 residential units, eight retail units and about 1,200 car-parking spaces, as well as a gymnasium and swimming pool.
