Love for others what you would love for yourself

A few days ago, I went with a reporter to Al Bateen to take pictures of her car for an assignment. To those who are born in a cold area, the weather in the UAE might be problematic. As for I,  36 C in the afternoon is equivalent to snow, even with my abaya on.

We chose Al Bateen because the place is usually calm and you do not see many people walking here and there, from my experience. We were trying to find someplace empty  so that I could feel more comfortable taking pictures where no weirdo might be looking at me. Eventually, we found our own spot.

The place was empty when we arrived, but a few minutes later we heard the vroom, vroom of a loud, roaring engine. That sound always reminds me of a donkey's cry when the master hits him to make him move.  Soon after, a few cars started driving past us, back and forth.  We were uncomfortable because they were disturbing us with their donkey cries.

I was taking pictures and one of the men got closer to our car. How did he expect me to take picture when he was standing in our way? We had to wait till he moved his car, although he parked too near to us.

It made me wonder:  don't these people have a job? It was around 2:30pm. I do understand the unemployment rate is high, but why disturb others who is trying to achieve something in their lives?

I was sharing this incident with my brother and I asked him: why did they make the vroom vroom sound next to us? He said they wanted our attention. Amusing!

If a man wants to impress a woman, he should do it through his mannerisms, not by a donkey cry. I am certain that such men would not tolerate such behaviour towards their sisters and would man up to protect their honour. Similarly we, too, are others' daughters and a donkey cry only shows how immature and disrespectful the men behind the tinted window can be.

The moral of the story is: Love for others what you love for yourself!
