A cleaner forged a parking ticket to pocket the Dh3 he was given to buy it by a colleague.
The Bangladeshi was given the three coins by a more senior colleague in the bank he worked at but altered the ticket and kept the money.
The 30-year-old admitted a charge of forgery and use of forged documents when he appeared in court on Monday.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that on August 8, the man was given the coins by a bank employee in order to buy her parking tickets during work hours.
But he was spotted altering the ticket.
"I noticed that the parking time was 10.22am and the expiry at 12.22am, which means that the amount paid for the 2-hour ticket should be Dh5, however, on the ticket, the price was Dh2 which is for one hour only," said the RTA Egyptian inspector who reported the incident to police.
When police arrived to the location in the Naif area of Deira, they found that the owner of the car worked at the bank.
The Emirati employee said that she used to give the cleaner the money to insert coins every hour for her.
"I park my car there every day but I give the cleaner money to buy tickets, every hour, for seven hours," she said in her testimony.
"When police arrived at the bank they asked about the owner of the car and when I introduced myself, they told me about the forgery. I told them I knew nothing about the parking tickets, and that the cleaner does it every day for me."
A police officer said the man admitted altering the ticket and was very scared when confronted with what he did.
The man admitted forgery and use of forged documents in court.
The next hearing will be next week.
