RAS AL KHAIMAH // The civil defence teams of RAK came to the rescue of 13 people who got stranded in the rain earlier this week across the emirate.
A source at the Civil Defence Department said that they began receiving reports in the first hours of the heavy rainfall.
He said that the first report was of three ladies and a child stuck in a house in Al Dhait area, and the second was of five ladies and a child stranded in the rain. The last report to be received was of three ladies also stranded in the rain.
Residents expressed their concern that road users appeared to be driving inappropriately for the harsh conditions.
Resident Saleh Al Zaabi said motorists, especially young ones, have not been complying with the traffic rules in these rough weather conditions, and their recklessness is threatening both their life and that of other road users.
“Such behaviour is causing great annoyance to everyone else, as it can lead to dangerous accidents,” he said.
Another citizen, Sultan Rashid, noted that the lower paths filled with rainwater and said that motorists should drive slowly.
Colonel Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Bagham, Director of Operations at RAK Police, urged everyone to proceed with caution and not to drive at high speed in these rough weather conditions witnessed throughout the whole country.
