Campaign will teach tradition

The Ministry of Education has launched a humanitarian campaign in honour of Sheikh Zayed to promote and raise awareness about the country’s traditions and values among young Emiratis.

DUBAI // The Ministry of Education has launched a humanitarian campaign in honour of the UAE’s founding Father Sheikh Zayed to make young Emiratis aware of the country’s traditions and values.

The campaign will urge pupils to visit sick and elderly people and help poor families.

It will run in schools under the title Zayed’s Humanitarian Work Day … Love and Loyalty for the Zayed Giving.

The initiative continues until the 19th day of Ramadan, and will coincide with the anniversary of Sheikh Zayed’s death.

Marwan Al Sawalih, undersecretary at the Ministry of Education, said the campaign would be implemented by the ministry and school districts and would also support the UAE Water Aid drive, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to provide drinking water to five million people worldwide.

Amal Al Qous, assistant undersecretary for Sector Activities and School Environment, urged pupils and their parents “to get involved in meaningful initiatives that strengthen national identity, promote volunteer work and human services,” and pay tribute to the memory of Sheikh Zayed.

She said the ministry would rely on social media to spread information about the campaign’s humanitarian activities.
