DUBAI// A 26-year-old British tourist will spend four years in jail after being convicted of consuming drugs.
The Dubai Criminal Court found the woman guilty of consuming hashish and tramadol.
Anti-narcotics officers were tipped off that the defendant was using drugs. She was arrested in Al Barsha on October 10 last year.
Police said the woman entered the country on September 20 that year.
A urine sample test found traces of drugs in her system. She confessed to the charges in court and was sentenced to four years to be followed by deportation.
