Emma Garcia's debut novel has all the ingredients of a gripping chick-lit yarn. There is the hapless heroine Vivienne Summer, who is deeply in love with her devilishly handsome but commitment-phobic fiance, who breaks her heart over and over again. Then there is the adoring male best friend who has slipped unnoticed from Vivienne's romantic gaze for most of her life.

Readers don't need to know much more than that if they want to guess the plot's outcome. But this book doesn't pretend to be revolutionary. Instead it sticks to the age-old formula: girl is shunned by handsome cad only to fall for the person she turns to for comfort.

If you're looking for more than a series of Bridget-Jones style mishaps then you may be sorely disappointed.

But if all you want is a simple tale of love in London with a bit of humour thrown in, this fits the bill.

It's a light, refreshing read that, once it warms up, keeps you interested until the end as you get behind Vivienne's cause to use social media to win her love back.
