Passengers flying to Dubai from Islamabad were delayed for eight hours after the aircraft they were due to travel on was hit with technical difficulties after being struck by a bird upon landing.

Those waiting for the aircraft to turn around and return to Dubai had a long wait in the departure lounge after the Emirates flight EK612 was examined by experts.

Frustrated passengers were provided with refreshments in the departure lounge before being flown to at 17:30 local time by a replacement aircraft.

A spokesperson for the airline said it was sorry for the trouble caused and released a statement saying: “The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised.”
