ABU DHABI // Several Asian women charged with running a brothel were working in a legitimate massage salon, Abu Dhabi Criminal Court heard.
Police monitored the villa and watched customers arrive, park their cars and return after 30 minutes.
But the defence asked “how it was possible to commit the crime of adultery” over this time frame?
Defence lawyers told the court that the villa was a commercial work of massage, no evidence had been found that could identify them as prostitutes and no money was seized.
When police raided the building, they found the women “wearing nightdresses, which normally people wear when home, and they never found them naked and no money was discovered”, the defence claimed.
“The case seems a creation of the human brain,” one of the women’s lawyer’s said.
Twelve of the women appeared before the court on Sunday and their lawyers asked the court to free them.
Twelve of the women denied the charges, while two pleaded guilty, the court heard.
It was not clear from records when police raided the villa.
A judgment is expected on April 28.
