DUBAI // Court officials have provided appropriate clothing to around 2,500 women since it introduced the service 30 months ago.

Thani Khamis Thani, head of the public service sector at Dubai Courts, told Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National, he came up with the idea for the service and presented it to the courts management for approval.

It is aimed at ensuring observance of decorum at courts as well as UAE traditions as many women were denied entry due to their inappropriate attire. They had to return home to change, which in many cases caused delays in proceedings.

Five women on average use the service each day.
