Al Dhafra Appeals Court has postponed to March 18 the case of an Arab woman accused of stealing jewels from an Emirati woman.
According to court documents, the Emirati woman found that her gold and jewellery were missing and called the police. Investigations led to the shop that bought the stolen goods from the defendant. Both were brought to court.
After a trial at Al Dhafra Court of First Instance, the defendant was sentenced to six months in jail and the shop owner was fined Dh5,000.
The defendant confessed to stealing and selling the jewellery. The shop owner said he did not know the gold was stolen, noting he bought it at market price after the defendant said it was her mother’s.
