A two-day inspection campaign conducted recently by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority in Al Wathba resulted in 15 warnings issued to farms accused of tampering with the irrigation mainline.

Inspectors found the farms had installed illegal pumps on the mainline, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National. Other measures will be taken once the warning period is over. The campaign was meant to ensure water was evenly distributed between farms.

Mohammed Al Raisi, director of the communication and community service department, said ADFCA works hard to establish good practices and sustainability at the emirate’s farms.
