A campaign to raise awareness on the dangers of illegal fireworks has been launched by the Ministry of Interior.
Col Issa Al Shamsi said that fireworks could cause deaths, burns and disfigurements.
Anyone who sells, imports, exports, makes or attempts to bring fireworks into the country without a licence faces up to six month in jail and/or a fine of Dh10,000, he said.
