A Bangladeshi man was saved in a dramatic rescue after being buried by rocks in only his second day in his new job. Uzul Shaikh, 28, was working on a construction project in the Khalidiyah area of Abu Dhabi with six other workers at around 7pm on Monday when rocks and rubble collapsed inwards, burying him up to his chest. Two other men were able to escape from the five-metre-deep hole, but Mr Shaikh was trapped underneath. Over five hours, more than 70 personnel, including police, paramedics and first responder units, worked to free Mr Shaikh from the hole, and he was rescued just before midnight. He was immediately taken to hospital, but was slipping in and out of consciousness. He is now recovering with a broken shoulder at Sheikh Khalifa Medical Hospital where he is expected to stay for a week..
