Latest: Winner of Abu Dhabi’s Dh20 million jackpot to share fortune with colleagues
An Indian man is beginning the New Year Dh20 million richer after striking it lucky in Abu Dhabi's Big Ticket raffle draw.
Organisers issued a call for help after being unable to reach Abdussalam NV to tell him of his good fortune. Several attempts to contact him had failed.
But the 28-year-old has now been informed of his life-changing windfall.
Mr Abdussalam worked at a shopping mall in Oman, but handed in his resignation shortly after finding out he had become a multimillionaire.
The winning ticket number was 323601, which he purchased with two other friends.
Mr Abdussalam, who is married with children, had provided two incorrect mobile phone numbers to organisers when purchasing the ticket on December 29.
His colleague heard about the list of winners and notified Mr Abdussalam, who then called Big Ticket’s help desk to claim his winnings.
Mr Abdussalam hopes to launch his own chain of supermarkets with the funds, share some of the funds with his friends and donate to the needy.
This was his fifth time purchasing the ticket and said he always dreamt of being the winner.
